Email Q&A

Here are more great questions we have received through email at NewSpring Church

1. How do you guys view non-religious people?

We love non-religious people. I do not believe that Christianity is a religion. Religion is man’s attempt to reach God. Christianity is God’s attempt to reach man. Christianity is all about a relationship with Christ. Jesus was not religious and often offended religious people and attracted people to Himself that were far from God. We want to be just like Jesus and point others to Him. Our desire and passion is to see lost people recognize their need for Jesus and come to a saving knowledge of Christ…not to make them religious or teach them a list of rules they have to follow. When Jesus changes someone, he will bring to surface what needs to be changed in a person’s life.

2. How do you view homosexuality?

Our church believes that Scripture is very clear on the fact that homosexuality is not in God’s design. Scripture teaches that sex was designed to only be experienced between a man and a woman in the bonds of marriage. Anything outside of this model (pornography, adultery, fornication, and homosexuality) is a distortion of the design God has for marriage and sex, and is considered sin. Scripture is very clear that God loves everyone, but he hates sin. Sometimes homosexuals I have met with have said that for someone to love them, they must support their lifestyle. This is not true. I love my family and friends, but do not always agree with everything they do. God loves us, but he loves us enough to tell us in his word what is wrong and what sin is. Our church has this same attitude. We try to express love to everyone, because everyone is loved by God. We also love people enough to tell them if something in their life is sinful or not pleasing to God. We have many homosexuals that attend our church and we love and offer grace to everyone no matter what sin they are struggling with.

There is a great article on what Scripture says about homosexuality here at www.carm.org.

If you or someone you know is struggling with homosexuality, here is a great webpage from www.troubledwith.com

3. How do you guys view human rights?

We believe that God places value on all human life, and that everyone needs the grace of God to take care of their sin. God has placed value on every human life. We are made in God’s image and He has an incredible plan for each of us if we will listen to and follow Him. We believe that everyone should be treated with love and respect and there is no excuse for mistreating or discrimenating against anyone because of their race, national origin, sex, age, disability, color, etc.

4. How do you guys view abortion?

We believe that abortion is wrong. God’s word tells us not to murder. We believe that an unborn child is alive and a special creation of God and therefore it is wrong to take that child’s life.
