Q&A – Strip Clubs

Q: When you talk about pornography being a sexual sin, does that include strip bars? Someone I care about says that when they go to a strip bar that they are just appreciating God’s beauty and have no intention of touching or sleeping with these women. This person is also happily married. He is not tempted with the internet porn or dirty mags, just the strip clubs.

A: Strip clubs produce the same effect as pornography does on a man. He is looking at another woman, other than his wife, to receive sexual images and gratification and this is called sin. He is not just appreciating God’s beauty, that is an excuse that men use to justify their sin. Scripture says that he is committing adultery in his heart.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

This sin will alienate your friend from his wife. Sexual sin attacks and destroys relationships and this type of sexual sin robs women of self-respect and value that God has created them with. Men that are caught in the bondage of this sin view women as objects, and this is not what God wants. I will pray for your friend that God will open his eyes to the truth about the damage he is doing to himself and his marriage and that God will free him from the bondage that he is in. God’s desire is for us to be pure and to live lives that honor Him. I am praying for your friend and for his marriage. I would be happy to talk with your friend and help him in any way I can.
