Are you coming to Unleash?

Our Unleash Conference is right around the corner. This was such a powerful event last year, and I am really looking forward to connecting with the church leaders and care pastors that will be there this year.

Baptism at NewSpring – part 1

NewSpring will be having our next Baptism Service next Saturday, February 9th at 5pm.

If you are a Christ Follower, and you have never been baptized by immersion after receiving Christ, then we would love for you to join us for our next Baptism Service.

To sign up, all you need to do is go to the baptism page on our website and fill out a baptism registration form.  This page also has one of Perry’s messages that you can listen to on baptism.

We get asked often about what we believe about baptism at NewSpring.  Here is part of our baptism facts sheet that we offer to people to help them understand what Scripture says on this issue.  Here is the first part of that form…

God is doing something cool in Wilmington

One of the things I love about my job is getting to connect with Pastors at other churches that have a passion for ministering to people. Today I got to hang out with Jeff, Daryl, and Kevin from LifePoint Church in Wilmington, NC. Jeff and Daryl both have great blogs, and I was excited about getting to meet with them today.

I attached their blogs above so you can check out what God is doing in their lives and in their Church. These guys are great leaders, they have a passion to learn, and they asked me some great questions that really made me think today.

God is doing something cool in Wilmington. If you are looking for a church in the Wilmington area, this is the one you need to be at! God has placed some great leaders in place there that love Him and have a heart to minister to the people in their community.

Q&A – John 6 and The Lord’s Supper

Our Lord’s Supper service is this Sunday at NewSpring (during all 4 services).  We would love for you to come and worship with us.  Here is another Q&A about what the Lord’s Supper means and how some have taken the meaning out of context.

Q:     Hey!! So I was just reading John 6:53. What is up with Jesus telling them to eat him and drink his blood? That is a little crazy! I know he probably didn’t mean it literally, but what did he mean?

Q&A – Why don’t Christians celebrate the Passover?

This Sunday at NewSpring, we are celebrating the Lord’s supper! These are some of my favorite services that we do as a church.  I hope you are making plans to be with us this Sunday as we come together as a church to reflect on how Jesus has radically saved us.

In light of our communion service this week, I thought it would be great to do a series of Q and A posts and share several email questions I have received about the Lord’s supper.  Here is the first one…

Q&A – Drunkard?

Q:        I heard Perry mention a bible verse that has me and my husband puzzled.  The verse stated something about “drunkards” not being allowed in Heaven.  Can you tell me what it means to be a drunkard?  Does this mean alcohol is completely off limits?  Is there a difference between someone who drinks almost daily but doesn’t get drunk and someone who drinks and gets drunk daily?

Q&A – Is it ok for a Christian to divorce an unbeliever?

Q: If a non-Christian person marries another non-Christian person and then down the road, one of them becomes a Christian, should they get a divorce or how should this be handled? In your “Hitch” series, I believe you stated that a Christian shouldn’t marry a non-Christian and that it will cause problems. So how does the “new” Christian handle their already married life to a non-Christian?

Peyton v/s the mouse

Today is my first day back at work after the holidays. We had a wonderful Christmas and I got to spend a lot of time with my family. My favorite moment from the past couple of weeks came a couple days ago.

I was getting Peyton and Lauren ready so we could play together outside. Peyton went outside before Lauren and I and started riding his bike. about 30 seconds later I heard Peyton let out the most horrible scream ever. I ran outside as quick as I could and he was standing in the garage screaming and crying his eyes out. I asked him what was wrong and all he did was scream and point. I looked to where he was pointing and saw a twitching, dying mouse.
