Questions every staff member should ask themselves about their Pastor – Part 3

3) Who is holding his arms up?

Your senior pastor is tired. If you don’t believe me, ask him. He has responsibilities pressure, and spiritual attacks that we can’t comprehend. And he needs his staff to come along side of him, to help carry the load, and to watch his back.

Questions every staff member should ask themselves about their Pastor – Part 1

1) Do you trust him?

I know as a staff member that whenever we get asked that question about our boss that we know we should say yes…because we don’t want to get fired. But what is the real answer. Do you really trust him? For your church to function correctly the answer must be a genuine yes.

Is Masturbation sin or not?

Perry preached a bold and clear message this past Sunday on Sexual Sin. The care staff has had the privilege this week of talking to and trying to help several people that are dealing with the bondage that comes from being trapped in sexual sin. It is always so powerful to hear stories about how God has been setting people free from the slavery they are in.

How do I know what God is calling me to do?

I have received several questions over the last few weeks about God’s call and how to know what God is calling someone to do.  Here is a series of posts I wrote about this subject:

God’s Call Part 1How do I know what God is calling me to do?

God’s Call Part 2How do you sense the call of God for what He has specifically called you to?

God’s Call Part 3How do you know when you’re not called to something?

God’s Call Part 4How do you prepare for what God is calling you to do?

God’s Call Part 5What do I need to understand to follow through on God’s call in my life?

God’s Call Part 6Some closing thoughts

NewSpring in Prison

We get a lot of emails and letters that we respond to at NewSpring.  Many of those tell us stories about how God has transformed someone’s life because they received Christ at our church.  We got a letter this week from an inmate at a prison in Florida.  He was telling us about how they watch our services during their chapel time and what happened recently at one of their chapel services.  You can check out more of the story on Alden’s Blog

Unleash is this week!

The Unleash Conference is this Thursday! I have already heard from some of the folks that deal with care ministry at other churches that will be here this week and I can’t wait to hang out with them.

The care staff and I are finishing up what we are going to be sharing at our breakout session on care ministry and the membership process at NewSpring. We will be talking about how the care ministry developed at NewSpring, the practical things God has taught us in being effective with care ministry, how our membership process works, and offer you a lot of the materials that we use to help minister to the people at our church. If you are involved in Care Ministry at your church as a staff member or volunteer and you are going to be here this week, we would love to meet you and hang out with you at the conference. Shoot me an email and let me know you are coming. We hope to see you at Unleash!

Are you coming to Unleash?

Our Unleash Conference is right around the corner. This was such a powerful event last year, and I am really looking forward to connecting with the church leaders and care pastors that will be there this year.

God is doing something cool in Wilmington

One of the things I love about my job is getting to connect with Pastors at other churches that have a passion for ministering to people. Today I got to hang out with Jeff, Daryl, and Kevin from LifePoint Church in Wilmington, NC. Jeff and Daryl both have great blogs, and I was excited about getting to meet with them today.

I attached their blogs above so you can check out what God is doing in their lives and in their Church. These guys are great leaders, they have a passion to learn, and they asked me some great questions that really made me think today.

God is doing something cool in Wilmington. If you are looking for a church in the Wilmington area, this is the one you need to be at! God has placed some great leaders in place there that love Him and have a heart to minister to the people in their community.

Integrity – Part 4

Reality is always your friend.  We must be in touch with the way things are before we try to change things to where we want them to be.  We must seek to find out what reality is and then we will know the truth.  Do you know what the reality is about your integrity?  It takes choosing to be real and looking at ourselves and our failures/flaws objectively.  It takes having people in our lives that will speak truth to us.
