Sexual Addiction and Redemption

Brad Cooper had a blog post today called Porn. Masturbation. Addiction. Redemption. which linked to a great booklet from Mars Hill Church on the subject of sexual sin and overcoming addiction. Every man should read this! No, really…take 15 minutes and go read this right now.

Turkey Drive Stats

We had an incredible day yesterday at NewSpring.  Our Anderson and Greenville Campuses made a huge impact on our communities with the food drive we held to support many of the local faith based organizations that we partner with.

Over all we took up 551 Turkey’s yesterday.  Our Anderson Campus received 488 Turkeys and our Greenville  campus received 63.  On top of that we took up more boxes of stuffing and canned goods than we could count at both campuses…about 3 large truck loads full.

We were able to give all of the food collected at the Anderson Campus to the Haven of Rest, Anderson Interfaith Ministries, and The Anderson Soup Kitchen.

All of the Greenville campus donations went to Miracle Hill Ministries.

Every organization we took food too was so overwhelmed at the generosity of our church.  They each asked me to tell all of our members thank you for how you made a major impact in the lives of the people they reach out to each week.  We were able to give the majority of the food that these ministries need to provide thanksgiving meals for the needy in our community.  Thank you NewSpring for your generosity!

Turkey Drive this Sunday

I am so excited about the outreach opportunity we have this weekend. In years past leading up to the holiday season we have done a frozen turkey/canned food drive to help several faith based organizations in our community with their increased food needs during the thanksgiving season. All of this food is given away to help people in the community that otherwise would not get to have a thanksgiving meal.

Last year we took up 597 turkeys and a giant truckload of food that we distributed to 4 organizations in our town. This year I hope we can take up even more.

If you are interested in helping with this outreach, please bring the following items this Sunday, Nov. 16 to our Anderson and Greenville Campuses:

*Frozen Turkeys*
Stuffing
Canned Cranberry Sauce
Canned Pumpkin
Canned Vegetables

See you Sunday. Thank you NewSpring for all that you do to make the name of Jesus famous!

Questions every staff member should ask themselves about their Pastor – Part 3

3) Who is holding his arms up?

Your senior pastor is tired. If you don’t believe me, ask him. He has responsibilities pressure, and spiritual attacks that we can’t comprehend. And he needs his staff to come along side of him, to help carry the load, and to watch his back.

Questions every staff member should ask themselves about their Pastor – Part 1

1) Do you trust him?

I know as a staff member that whenever we get asked that question about our boss that we know we should say yes…because we don’t want to get fired. But what is the real answer. Do you really trust him? For your church to function correctly the answer must be a genuine yes.

The Right Reason to Get Married

I have had many conversations with single people that ask me this question: How do you know when you’ve found the right one?

Most people don’t like the answer…You just know. Lets look at that truth a little more in depth.

You should only get married because you know (not think) that God has called you to marry this person. You should get married because you realize that you can never go as far, or accomplish as much alone for God as you can with this person. That is when you know that you’ve found the right one.

So what are some ways that you can know?
